The new D&D Dungeon Master’s Guide includes a whole new game mechanic called Bastions and we’re super excited to let you know how Roll20 is supporting it! We’re launching a brand new Bastion sheet within D&D 2024 that will allow you to create your Bastions, track all their key details, and drag & drop facilities directly to your sheet. Here’s how it works!

Launch any game where you’re using the D&D 2024 Character sheet to try it out. Go to add Character, name your bastion and click save. Once the builder page launches, select “Build a Bastion.” The rules for bastions are found in Chapter 8 of the 2024 DMG – available in the Roll20 Marketplace either individually or in the D&D 2024 Core Rulebook Bundle. Once you’ve opened the bastion page, you can enter any relevant details, such as the characters to whom the Bastion belongs, your hirelings or defenders, the Bastion level, and a short description.
Now you’re ready to drag and drop facilities from the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide! You can, of course, open each one and adjust the information as desired, or if you are replacing a facility, you can click the remove button and drag and drop your new facility onto the sheet.
We’d love to hear from you on how you plan to use Bastions in your game, and what features you’d want to see in the future. For now, this sheet prioritizes tracking, but doesn’t support rolling or automated features. Since this is a new mechanic, we want to be sure we’re building something that is useful for YOU, so by all means, let your voice be heard and please submit suggestions via our feedback form! We’ll be listening to what features you want and need for your games. Here are some ideas of things that could be added to the sheet if there is interest:
- Roll a Bastion event to let your table know what’s happening to their Bastions.
- Start an “Order” and automatically receive relevant items.
- More dedicated/detailed tracking for inventory items, your Bastion Hirelings, or other people (or Beasts) at your Bastion.
As always, we are continuing to address all of the feedback everyone has been providing about 2024 Character sheets and the VTT platform as a whole. We’ll continue to push out iterative releases to fix bugs and add new features. Keep an eye on the Change Log for the most up to date list of everything that’s come out!
