Curse of Strahd just got ReVamped on Roll20! If you already own it, this update is free 🧛🎉 Here’s what’s new!

Map Pins

Click any map location to read the room description instantly. No more wasted minutes searching for adventure text. This saves sooooo much time for a GM!

Foreground Layer & Automatic Traps!

Some maps now use Roll20’s foreground layer to place roofs, bridges, and environmental elements above player tokens (they turn transparent once a player is under it). Some traps and areas now trigger automatically when a character steps on them, such as this magical brazier reacting with a flame effect when a character is shoved onto it!

Digital Reader

For the first time ever on Roll20, you can read the complete Curse of Strahd sourcebook, cover to cover, on any device. This unlocks automatically in the D&D Nexus, is optimized for desktop and mobile and provides enhanced tooltips and rule references throughout. This is automatically available when you link your Roll20 account with the D&D Nexus.

Upgraded Character Sheets

Curse of Strahd now comes in two versions – pick the one that fits your group!

D&D Fifth Edition Sheet (recommended). The newest sheet with full 5e + 5.5e support, enhanced homebrew options, improved roll designs, and full mobile support. Continuous new sheet features are always in the works.

5E Classic Sheet. Best if your group is already mid-campaign and doesn’t want to switch.

Death House as a Standalone Add-on!

Death House is now available to drop into any of your D&D games. Especially useful as you prepare for the new Ravenloft book this summer, and teasing your players with elements of Barovia.

Free for Existing Owners

If you own Curse of Strahd on Roll20, this update is already in your library. No purchase required. Because of the amount of changes, this is not a patch that will apply to your current game. Instead, it’s a whole new add-on that’s available in your library. If you’re mid-campaign and want to switch, you’ll have to export your characters and any custom items out. You can start a new game with any of these add-ons right from the marketplace page, or from your My Items page on Roll20!

If you don’t own it yet, now’s a great time!

What’s Next

This remaster is also a preview of what we’re building toward. Ravenloft: The Horrors Within is coming to Roll20, and everything we’ve refined here – Map Pins, foreground layers, automated reactions – is carrying forward into that release. More on that soon!
