Last year was enormous for Roll20 launches, and we’re kicking off 2026 with a trove of small but mighty upgrades to your D&D experience. Here’s what you might have missed in January!

📱 Mobile Support for Builder (Sheet Next!)

You’ll soon have a fully mobile D&D sheet! The D&D Character Builder is now fully responsive and works great on tablets and phones. The D&D Sheet already works well on tablets in landscape, and phone responsiveness is rolling out over the next few weeks. This work also means that in VTT, you can shrink down the builder even smaller to focus more on your game!

The dream of having phone, tablet, and PC all working together is nearly complete!

🔧 Fine-Tune Your Modifiers

The Modifier Builder just got more powerful with detailed formula support. You can now create dynamic calculations for Max HP, Skills, Initiative, and Senses – like “add double your CHA to HP” or “add half your proficiency bonus to Initiative” instead of just flat bonuses.

We also added two new modifier types: Carrying Capacity (for magical bags and belts) and Passive Skills (used by feats like Observant). When you drag items or feats from the Compendium, you can see exactly what bonuses they’re giving you – and customize them however you want.

📜 Spells Tab in NPC Stat Block View

We added a new Spells tab to the NPC stat block view. You can now switch to a fullscreen spells display using tabs at the top of the sheet, making it easier to access NPC spells without leaving stat block view. We’re planning a more integrated solution down the road, but this gives you quick access in the meantime.

🎲 Roll Templates

Your dice rolls have gotten much more functional (and handsome)!

  • ✅ Attack & Damage Templates are live, with a full redesign
  • ✅ Spell Roll Templates are also live!

🔄 2014 ↔ 2024 Macro Compatibility

Playing with a mix of 2014 and 2024 characters? Macros will now work when targeting tokens using either sheet! This also improves Reactions support, ensuring your automations trigger properly regardless of which ruleset you’re using.

🎯 Critical Hit Threshold

Ever wanted to crit on a 19? Weapons from the Compendium with Critical Hit Threshold reductions now work with supported attacks.

For example, the Executioner’s Blade (granted by Axe of the Galloping Headsman from Crooked Moon 2024) now properly triggers critical hits at 19. Just drag and drop from the Compendium! Here’s what’s supported so far:

  • Sword of Kas (Dungeon Master’s Guide)
  • Axe of the Galloping Headsman (Legendary) (The Crooked Moon)
  • Tooth of the Jinxed Leviathan (Legendary) (The Crooked Moon)
  • Scourge of Shadow (Chains of Asmodeus)

We plan to expand this list – if you’d like to see specific weapons here, let us know!

⚡ Sheet & Builder Improvements

We also launched a bunch of quality of life improvements to keep things singing along:

Editing & Navigation

  • About section modal is now streamlined for easier information editing
  • Hit Dice editing is now easier to manage
  • Modifier Builder dropdown is fixed, with a new search filter to find what you need

Custom Subclass Spellcasting

  • You can now add spellcasting to a custom subclass (e.g., Arcane Trickster or Eldritch Knight)
  • You can also add spell list expansions, adding specific spells to your class’s spell list (e.g., “My Warlock subclass lets me learn Fireball as if it were a Warlock spell”)

Better Expertise Support

  • Features that grant expertise choices (like Wizard’s Scholar Expertise) now properly filter to only show skills you’re already proficient in
  • Features that let you replace previous proficiency or expertise selections at later levels (like Bardic Versatility) now work correctly in the Builder

🔮 What’s Next

  • Complete Mobile support for the Character Sheet
  • ChatSetAttr mod script compatibility with the new sheet (currently in QA)
  • Performance improvements
  • Complete roll template suite
