Wrangling your party just got a whole lot easier on Roll20! Our newest duo of features, Define Party and Place Party, work together to make moving characters and NPCs around the map and focusing your players a breeze! Whether you’re assembling for battle, navigating to a new scene, or corralling that one player who keeps wandering off… we’ve got you covered.
How It Works
Define Party
So you’re ready to make it official with your crew. Here’s how:
Multi-select a group of tokens (linked to character sheets), either by dragging a selection window or shift + clicking those you want added to your party. Right-click and select Define Party to instantly add them to your adventuring party.
You’ll see a ⭐ next to party members’ names in your Journal once they have been defined as party members.
(If anyone was in a party before but isn’t in your new group selection, they’re automatically removed.)
Need to tweak your lineup, or prefer adding and removing members individually? Just open a character sheet, click Edit, and check or uncheck the Party member box.
Place Party
Once your party is defined, you can move them all at once, anywhere, in just two clicks… can you feel the power coursing through you?
Right-click on your page and choose Place Party. All defined party members are instantly placed at that spot, the Party Ribbon is automatically moved to that page so players can follow the action, and a Focus Ping makes sure everyone’s camera snaps to the new location!
If tokens are already on the page, they’ll move to the spot you clicked. If not, new tokens drop in straight from their character sheets with all default token settings.
That’s it! Enjoy better session flow, streamlined scene transitions, and the tremendous boon of saved time and effort, all available now, exclusively on the latest version of the Roll20 tabletop. No, your tokens still behave the same. This just adds a new property that helps when moving them.
An incredible opportunity for comedic roleplay. Tokens will still spawn at the clicked location, most likely stacked on top of each other to fit.
