We sat down with Jan Loos to learn more this map pack and their creations on our Marketplace.

What was the inspiration for this art pack?
I’ve always been fascinated by the inventor archetype in roleplaying games and fantasy stories. There’s something compelling about bringing inanimate objects to life—whether it’s Geppetto crafting a wooden doll to ease his loneliness or Dr. Frankenstein defying nature itself. That, combined with the concept of a suit that grants superhuman abilities, like Iron Man, made the idea of Artificer characters incredibly exciting to explore. This token pack is a tribute to that blend of ingenuity and magic.
What made you want to start creating maps and/or tokens for D&D?
I created my first token in 2014 when I was running a desert adventure and needed something specific for my campaign. Inspired by Devin Night’s incredible work, I decided to try making my own. From that moment, I was hooked.
Do you have a favorite memory from adventuring in Eberron?
One of my favorite moments was when our DM had us wear plastic gloves while our characters were packed into the lightning rail train system. After an hour of playing, our hands were uncomfortably clammy—just like our characters, stuck in a cramped train full of people. It was such a simple yet immersive way to bring the setting to life.
What’s your favorite product you’ve created on the Roll20 marketplace (besides this one) and why?
I’d have to say the Guards and Soldiers token pack. Creating that set pushed me to refine my skills, especially when it came to rendering armor and metal. The techniques I learned during that process elevated everything I’ve made since.
Every great adventure needs great characters, and Jans Token Pack 29 – Artificers is here to provide them! Don’t miss your chance to claim this exclusive bonus by purchasing the Roll20 conversion of Frontiers of Eberron: Quickstone on DMsGuild before the week is up. With this final bonus, our special promotion comes to an end—but the stories you create with these tools are just beginning. See you in the Western Frontier!
