Our latest character sheet update brings a major refactor to the spellcasting experience, making it easier than ever to build, manage, and level up your magical characters. Here’s what’s new!

A Cleaner, More Informative Spell UI

We’ve streamlined the spell selection interface to put clarity first. Whether you’re prepping spells, browsing your list, or leveling up, there’s less visual clutter, and more focus on your choices.

Know Exactly How Many Spells to Pick

No more guesswork! The builder shows you exactly how many spells you should prepare or select based on your class, level, and features.

Select More Than One Spell at a Time

Say goodbye to clicking spells one by one. You can now select multiple spells in a single action and save selections, making level-ups and prep phases way faster.

More Info About Spells at a Glance

Curious about what a spell does before picking it? You’ll now get more contextual info about spells as you browse, so you can make quick, informed choices without switching tabs or digging through the rulebook.

Pact Magic Slot Support

Warlocks, rejoice! Pact Magic slots (purple circles!) are now fully supported in the sheet builder. Roll20 will now track Pact Magic independently from regular spell slots and apply casting rules appropriately. No more workarounds needed.

Filters & Search: Find Spells Fast

Looking for spells by school, level, casting time, or keyword? Now you can filter and search within your spell list, so you can find the perfect spell without endless scrolling. This is especially helpful for players with a lot of sourcebooks unlocked.

Spell Replacement Support on Level-Up

Playing a class that lets you swap a spell when you level? Now you can do that directly from the level-up flow in the builder.

Notable Bug Fixes in This Update

We’ve also squashed some major bugs as part of this refactor:

  • Full spell list scroll restored: Players with large libraries can now scroll through the entire spell list and they won’t get stuck loading.
  • Multiclassing improved: You can now pick spells for each of your classes without reopening the character sheet between selections.
  • Feature/Feat spell picks fixed: Features that offer a specific choice (like “Light” or “Guidance”) no longer incorrectly offer extra options (like “Dancing Lights”).

Built for the Future of D&D

These improvements are part of Roll20’s larger effort to support the D&D 2024 Player’s Handbook, but they also improve the experience for spellcasters across all editions and content. The new sheet also supports D&D 2014 ruleset, so there’s no reason not to give it a try. Whether you’re playing today or preparing for tomorrow, your character sheet just got a serious upgrade.

Stay tuned for even more enhancements as we roll out support for the next generation of D&D. Happy spell-slinging!
