Frequently Asked Questions

How do I access the D&D 2024 Character Sheet/Builder in the Activity?

The new 5E sheet and builder are fully compatible with the Discord Activity! To help make the transition to the new character sheet and builder experience as seamless as possible, we recently launched the ability for you to have both of the official 5E sheets within one campaign on the Roll20 Tabletop. Players can choose the sheet that works best for them without the whole table needing to switch at once. Choose your sheet in the Game Settings tab in the right-hand toolbar.

What Discord platforms does the Roll20 Activity work on?

The Activity supports Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. It is accessible via the Discord desktop client or web application, but not on mobile devices.

Can I access my existing Roll20 campaigns within the Activity on Discord?

Yes, you can access all existing campaigns, characters, and marketplace content from the Roll20 account you link the first time you open the activity. They will remain synchronized between the Activity on Discord and the Roll20.net web application.

Do I need a Roll20 subscription to access the Activity?

No. The Activity is available to all Roll20 users without a subscription.

Are Dynamic Lighting and other Pro/Plus features available?

Yes, Dynamic Lighting and other Pro/Plus features are available. Some Pro features, like Mod Scripts, require prior configuration on Roll20.net.

How does this interact with “Project Jumpgate”, Roll20’s ongoing overhaul of the VTT? Can I play my beta games in the Activity?

You can open any existing game within the Roll20 Activity on Discord, including those you’ve opted into the new tabletop beta. New games created within Discord are opted-in to the Jumpgate beta by default, resulting in a smoother, more performant play experience. Since the beta is ongoing, please report any bugs encountered within the VTT.

Do all of my players need to be logged into Discord to use the Activity?

Yes, all players must be in the same Voice Channel on Discord for an optimal Activity experience. They can use either the Discord desktop client or the web version, and we’ve made the sign-up/login process for Roll20 smoother than ever.

What does this mean for Roll20’s integrated voice and video?

Roll20’s integrated voice and video will continue to be available on Roll20.net, but they are not included in the Activity to avoid confusion and redundancies.
