Big news for D&D spellcasters on Roll20! We’ve updated the Spells tab on the D&D 2024 sheet to make managing your magic abilities easier, faster, and way more powerful.

Here’s what’s new!

Full Screen Spell View

Expand your Spell tab into Full Screen view so you can focus on your arcane interests. You can even set Full Screen as your default view whenever you open the tab.

Default and List View Redesign

We’ve packed more spell information into a smaller space. Click the Layout button (the three rectangles) on your Spells tab to toggle between views and choose the layout that suits you.

Manage Prepared and Always-Prepared Spells

Want to see all your spells, whether they’re prepped or not? Now you can! Always-prepared spells (like innate abilities or item spells) are clearly marked in white with a red diamond, while spells that can be prepared can be toggled on and off. Plus, you can un-prepare all your spells in one click to make those long rest spell swaps a breeze.

Customizable List View Columns

When in “list view,” choose what info you want highlight, whether you prefer spell range, damage, action type, or attack bonus.

Spell Resource Tracking

If a spell uses a resource (like a wand or another magic item), you’ll now see the spell marked with what item it’s from and how many more charges it has left without leaving the spell tab.

Spell Slot Glow Up

We’ve updated spell slots from squares to diamonds (because diamonds are cooler, obviously). More spell slot improvements, especially for multiclass characters, are coming soon!

Other improvements:

  • Bigger, clearer spell filters (with even better filtering on the way)
  • Spells with material costs show clear markers and tooltips
  • Centralized spell settings for easier management
  • Remove spells directly from the tab—fewer clicks, less hassle (don’t worry, there’s still a confirmation!)

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to provide feedback on the spellcaster experience on the new sheet. The D&D 2024 sheet is in active development, so you can keep up with every update via our ongoing changelog. If you haven’t had the chance to see some of these updates for yourself, hop into your Roll20 character sheet or build a new one and try out these today!
