Roll20 has a lot to offer gamers looking to move their tabletop campaigns online: an immersive tabletop for moving tokens and maps, automated macros and rollable tables for single-click commands, endless character creation in Roll20 Characters, the Party toolbox and Page Folders for easily endangering splitting the party, a robust Compendium search for navigating other players’ linked books, and tooltips, Journal entries, and art handouts to help your players explore – even a new Discord activity for connecting with friends and family across multiple continents. Wherever the Internet can go – so can Roll20!
Even with all of these completely free options, you might find yourself eager to “up your game”. That’s where our Subscription features come in. Roll20 has two Subscription tiers, Plus and Pro, and both have a ton of specialty perks for complete control of your campaigns. We’ve compiled a list of our ten favorite Subscription features, as well as some helpful articles to learn how to access them. We may have even tossed in a feature or two that feels totally new…keep reading to learn more!

Starting with one of the most noticeable perks: NO ADS! NONE! ZERO!
Subscribing to our enhanced features is one of the best ways to support Roll20, so, as a thank you, the first thing subscribers get is ad-free access to the Roll20 Tabletop and site! That means no waiting to get into your games – you and your friends can jump straight into the adventure!

Roll20 helps you explore endless possibilities in Roll20 Characters – there’s no limit to the number of characters you can create! But, when your weekly game is running out of room for imported characters, a Subscription will open the door to an even bigger world.
While games created by Roll20 users with Free accounts are limited to 3 exports from Roll20 Characters into a campaign by default, a game created by a Roll20 subscriber can accept an unlimited number of exported characters! That means players and GMs alike can introduce NPCs, quest givers, and suspiciously identical family members who meet the party right when a player’s current character meets a tragic end.

Got books that you can’t wait to share with your table? Roll20 makes it easy to link Compendiums with your owned games. Players at any tier can share adventures and supplements with their friends – expand the Compendium search and enhance your players’ character options!
But it’s even better for Subscribers: you can share your owned compendiums in up to 3 active games and 10 other players with a Plus subscription, and up to 5 active games and 15 other players with a Pro subscription. That means your half-dragon, gnome barbarian with a djinn patron, shadow magic, and an absurdly powerful obscure magic ring can feel at home on any plane, in any game. Just don’t be too surprised when your GM rolls up 3 tarrasques in a trench coat. 😉

Illuminate your adventures with our line-of-sight system, which updates visibility for characters in real time, as you play.
You may have already tried our free tool, the Hide/Reveal Mask found in the left hand toolbar, but if you want complete control of what your players see, WHEN they see it, you don’t want to miss out on Dynamic Lighting! Let your players lead the way – you can sit back and trust our tools to help them explore your carefully crafted maps.
Bonus: indicate mystical auras by adding colors to vision, light up a large room or corridor with the Place Light token tool, and set doors and windows on your map for extra immersion! Just don’t lock them too tightly – you know how hard it is for adventurers to get past doors!

Pro Subscribers can unlock a monthly, curated reward through our Roll20 Reserve program. On the first Tuesday of each month, Roll20 awards a completely free item: whether maps, adventures, token packs, or even entire rulebooks!
Once you claim your reward, it’s in your account forever – even when its award month is up. We give away hundreds of dollars worth of rewards every year – pretty much the best perk ever, right? 😁
Tip: Makes sure to sign up for Roll20 Reserve emails so that you never miss your free gift!

No campaign is complete without the perfect maps, the perfect art, the perfect tokens, the perfect playlist – before you know it, you’re starting to run out of room to populate your worlds! With a Subscription, you don’t have to compromise – you can maximize your space and store an army of BBEGs and NPCs (complete with lairs, playlists, and inspirational collages) that your players will inevitably either fall in love with or one-shot kill (maybe even both).
Plus Subscribers get their hands on a 4GB bag of holding for all of their uploaded assets, but Pro Subscribers get a whopping 10GB!
Bonus: BOTH Subscriptions double your maximum upload limit, so get those mega dungeons ready – you’re gonna need them.

Keep your campaigns going with the Transmogrifier tool: it allows Pro subscribers to transfer characters, items, handouts, macros, rollable tables, PDFs, and even your Jukebox playlist from module to module – the adventure never has to end!
Just head over to the My Settings tab (it has a gear icon) and scroll to the bottom – select the Miscellaneous section and the Transmogrifier will be waiting for you there, ready for you to easily drag and drop elements between any games that you own!

Own your automations with Roll20 Mods – you or the community create the code scripts and Roll20 adds the magic!
Move multiple tokens, add animations and actions, and roll dice for groups of characters in your games automatically. Not a coder? Use the Mod Library to choose from tons of community scripts and add a new level of customization to your game with just the click of a button.

Build your own character sheets! Pro Subscribers take their games further – create a sheet from scratch or choose from thousands of community-driven sheets to customize.
Join the sprawling community of sheet authors and use either the Sheet Editor or the Sheet Sandbox – command total control over your Roll20 Tabletop tools and even add animations, macros, and auto-calculations to your sheets.
That’s not all: with our new sheet infrastructure, Beacon SDK, it’s even easier to build your sheets and link Roll20 Mods! With Roll20 custom character sheets, the sky is truly the limit.

Make your voice heard!
That’s right, subscribing to a Pro subscription allows you to opt into features before they’re released to the public. Join thousands of subscribers in trying out powerful improvements to the Tabletop, like Jumpgate, or exciting new integrations, like the Roll20 Discord Activity – before they’re released to the public!
You might even get your hands on some upcoming platform integrations (hint hint, wink wink) in 2025.

WHEW! That’s quite the list, and it doesn’t even include every awesome feature that Roll20 Subscriptions have to offer. Here are a couple of honorable mentions:
- Unlimited or Highlighted Looking For Group Listings: This one’s for the professional GMs – we make it easy to find players for your next campaigns!
- Shared Table Features: That’s right, when you unlock features for yourself in a game you’ve created, you unlock them for EVERY player and GM at the table! (Talk about sharing the wealth!)
- The Effects (FX) Tool: The Effects Tool is now open to ALL users, Free or Subscribed, but Pro Subscribers can create and edit custom particle emission patterns.
- External Journal Access: Subscribers can check out the External Journal from the Game Details page, and brush up on what they missed in the three months since everyone’s schedule last lined up.
- Pro Tokens: Pro Subscribers can jumpstart their library with hundreds of free tokens, designed for a vast variety of genres and game systems.
Subscribers are the backbone of Roll20, and we’re happy and honored to share our love of games with you. Here’s to 2025, and plenty of critical successes together!
