TSR Endorsement, Tabletop Forge, and New Forums

The Roll20 Team

The Roll20 Team

It’s not very often that I sit down to write a post with as much awesome news as this one! Since the beginning, Roll20 has been a project of collaboration – between our Kickstarter backers, our beta testers, and our entire community. We’re pleased to announce today that we’re adding two more collaborations to that list, and improving your ability to collaborate as well.

TSR Endorses Roll20

Jayson Elliot, the Editor-in-Chief of the new Gygax Magazine from TSR, was one of the first 10 people to pledge to our Kickstarter campaign. He gave his support to the idea of Roll20 incredibly early in the process, and has continued that support to this day. We’re pleased to work with him and the entire team at TSR to be selected as their “official tabletop” for online gaming. Since this partnership is still in the early stages we don’t have anything concrete to announce right now, but I’m sure that in the near future you’ll begin to see the fruits of this relationship. In the mean time, if you haven’t already be sure to check out the new magazine if you’re looking for some great RPG articles, adventures, and news!

Tabletop Forge + Roll20

Joshuha Owen, the lead developer and creator of Tabletop Forge, recently reached out to us to see if we could find a way to better work together. As a result of that process, we’re pleased today to announce that the Tabletop Forge community is joining the Roll20 family. You can read more about the details on the Tabletop Forge site, but the short version is that Joshuha will be joining Roll20 as a member of our Mod Team, and we will be working with him to transition the Tabletop Forge user base over to Roll20.

We’re excited to have so many new enthusiasts in our community, and I know that this will only help us further the cause of online tabletop gaming as we join together for a common purpose.

New and Improved Forums

We also launched a large new update to the Roll20 platform which included our new and improved forums system. It’s now a more integrated part of the Roll20 experience which should eliminate some annoying issues that a few of our users have been dealing with. In addition, there are new features like campaign “mini-forums” which can help facilitate out of game discussion for your campaigns. Read more about the new forum software…well, on the forums!
