Greetings, Pathfinders! The new Roll20 Pathfinder Second Edition character sheet has reached several new milestones.

With this month’s updates to Lore, Skills, and Spells, the sheet is now able to handle the majority of core game mechanics. This means you can run a full game using our Community Preview Sheet on Roll20 Characters – and let us know what you think.

As a recap, here are some of the more exciting updates to the sheet since the Community Preview Launch in January.

Spells

Enhancement to the sheet’s Spells tab is here! You can now enter prepared, spontaneous, focus, and innate spell types and rituals and organize them by spell-casting method.

Each type of Spell surfaces only relevant information, and allows you to automatically track Spell usage, cast Spells, and add attack and damage rolls. In addition, you can now click on rollable text to automatically execute a roll when you have any dice references within a description of a Spell.

For example, you can now roll “6d12+5 fire damage” from the text description of a spell. Give it a try and share your feedback so we can continue to improve!

Lore and Skills

We updated the Skills tab to allow for entry and management of custom skills and lore, including the ability to change linked attributes and other information.

Traits

Nearly everything in Pathfinder 2e has traits – actions, items, spells, feats, monsters, even the player character themselves. We aim to automate any traits that we can, beginning with the most common traits that affect combat.

We’ve started with support for Agile, Deadly, Fatal, Finesse, and Propulsive, with automation for a few more common traits coming soon. Look out for the circular icon on a trait chip to know that we’ve automated support for it!

For example, the Finesse trait: Strikes with the Finesse trait will now automatically change to use Dexterity or Strength in their bonus to hit, depending on which is higher. If your Strength is 3 and your Dexterity is 1, your Unarmed Strike with the Finesse trait will show +3 (Strength), but if you raise your Dexterity to 4, the Unarmed Strike will immediately change to show +4 (Dexterity).

We’ve added tooltips with definitions for every trait in the Compendium, so that you can see at a glance what each trait does – just by hovering over it!

Custom Effects

We added an Effects Builder to Conditions, Feats, and Items, empowering you to build sets of bonuses or penalties that you can turn on or off at the click of a button.

For example, you could create Boots of Blinding Speed that automatically grant +10 to Land Speed and -5 to Perception checks whenever they’re equipped!

From Our Pathfinder Team

Our team is thrilled by the recent update of Roll20’s dedication to our partnership with Paizo. This, combined with the incredible support from our passionate Pathfinder community, fuels our team’s dedication to building the best possible Pathfinder Second Edition sheet and builder. Here’s a bit from our team on the things that keep us excited:

“As someone who started their TTRPG journey with Pathfinder 1e on Roll20 over 11 years ago, I’m excited about a world where playing a Wizard can be as accessible as playing a Fighter and where making homebrew content is as easy as playing with Core.”

“I’m new to Pathfinder, and I’m so excited by the sheet’s ability to organize a lot of information in a sensible way.”

We have a full and exciting road ahead, and your feedback is crucial to ensuring we are headed toward delivering an exceptional Pathfinder play experience on Roll20. Our Development team is setting our sights next on Drag & Drop functionality, and we can’t wait to continue this journey with you!
