Read the D&D Core Rulebooks Online
Our design team is introducing a new experience for reading all of your D&D content on Roll20! We’ve introduced key features including mobile and tablet support, simplified browsing by chapter, improved searches, and a collapsable table of contents that stays with you as you read. We’ll have more to share over the summer!

The Best D&D Character Sheet
Buckle up, the time is here: the D&D 2024 character sheet is now in Alpha. Explore the character sheet on Roll20 Characters to see the new features we’re introducing.
Key features:
- A better mobile experience: Both the Roll20 sheet and character builder are built with responsive sizing to play from whatever device is easiest for you: laptop, cell phone, or tablet. Even better, your characters sync instantly between devices, letting you jump between in-person and online play.
- Advanced automation and customization: We’ve made it a top priority to put you in control of your sheet without sacrificing automation. Add effects and modifiers across the sheet to easily support homebrew without worrying about recalculations when you add new items, equipment or levels to your character.
- Improved interactions: We’ve heard feedback on spells and inventory and made it easy to navigate the core rulebooks. We prioritized valuable real estate on your sheet with collapsible panels. Choose to show more or less information on the sections you want to see. Quick access tooltips across the sheet let you jump through the D&D compendiums.

You’ll be able to add modifiers to ability scores, saving throws, and AC for effects and conditions. The full character sheet will offer many more customization options, including complex formulas. It will grant resistances, vulnerabilities, immunities, modify skills, and add temporary spell slots or resources.
This summer, you’ll be able to create custom items like “Night Vision Goggles” – making homebrewing a breeze!
Play Now With D&D Pre-Generated Characters
Until we release the new character builder in July, we know manual character creation can be challenging and time consuming, so we added ready-to-play, pregenerated characters that you can use for the Alpha.
Some of these are beloved characters from our team games, so we hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Yes, that is a dapper goose named Hjōnk, the adored poster child for chaos within the dev team. They’ve had many forms: Goose-turned-Human, Not-Human-turned-Goose, and Eldritch Goose.
This will be a closed testing period, meaning the characters you create in Alpha won’t move with you into the Beta. The Alpha is currently scheduled to run for six weeks and will close upon the start of the Beta in late July.
The compendium tied to the sheet during Alpha will be the 2014 version, and the sheet will be ready to be fully compatible with new core rulebooks.
We’re eager for you to get your hands on the sheet and to hear your feedback. This Alpha character sheet may have unfinished sections or some bugs. Please send us bugs or feature requests. As a thank you for participating in this Alpha period, you will also get a profile badge on your Roll20 account!
Easy to Use D&D Character Builder
We are aiming for a late July Beta release of the Character Builder, featuring both the character sheet and builder in Roll20 Characters and Roll20 Tabletop. The Beta will also have support for Drag & Drop and an NPC/monster sheet!
The new Player’s Handbook (2024) launches on September 17, and you’ll be able to seamlessly jump into the new content using the new sheet and builder.

Looking at our roadmap, you’ll continue to see additional features throughout the Fall and Winter. We’re adding macro support, light mode, print to PDF, and much more based on your feedback, so be sure to give us your thoughts.
Keep track of the latest on D&D 2024 on Roll20.
